Only Works Online. Others have noted the same. If the language is downloaded, you can only type your phrase out. The Mic doesn't work. When it's online with an internet connection, then everything works. Not good for no signal areas or some air travel. Too bad. Hope this gets modified down the road to fully work offline.

I have loved and used Google translate for years, but it has changed and I don't know how to change it back. there had been too small boxes, the top one for the language you speak in the bottom one the translation in whatever language you had asked for. now my Google translate is one long box and it is very user unfriendly. When I try to get it to simply speak what I had written, it pops up with 3 boxes with three different choices. I've hit the pronounce button numerous times, nothing happens.

For a large company that employs UX designers at some of the highest pay rates in the industry, it's unacceptable that the designers behind this app have overlooked very simple features like being able to add line breaks to text. It handles line breaks fine when copy/pasting blocks, but there's no way to add line breaks by holding the "Enter" or "Return" key, as it is labeled "Go" similarly to typing a URL in a mobile browser. This issue could be fixed very easily. No excuse.
